Re: Withdrawal of Impasse/ Demand for Bargaining

Dear Ellen:       

It is my understanding that Jim Diamond has scheduled a meeting with Sheriff Gee next week to discuss matters of mutual concern between the PBA and the HCSO.

In contemplation of that meeting and to exhibit in advance of that meeting the PBA’s good faith, the PBA has decided to withdraw its declaration of impasse.   In consequence thereof and in anticipation of a positive meeting between Sheriff Gee and Jim Diamond, the PBA would like to schedule a bargaining session as soon as possible after that meeting.  I understand the meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19.

In checking with the PBA’s bargaining team I am informed that they are prepared to meet at any time, day or night, weekends included.  Therefore, please select a date and a time as soon as possible after Wednesday, March 19 and let me know.  I assume it is most convenient for your team if we meet at the Sheriff’s office.  That is fine with us.  However, if you prefer to meet at the PBA’s office we would be glad to host the meeting.  Your choice, just let us know.

By separate letter I am notifying PERC Special Master Robert McHenry of the PBA’s decision to withdraw the impasse

Yes, there was a meeting on 03/19/08. Mr. Diamond relayed that the meeting was cordial, but not necessarily productive towards getting a contract completed. Mr Stull spoke with the HCSO legal representative after the meeting in order to get a date for contract talks. If the PBA does not get a date in a timely fashion Mr. Stull has been instructed to file an Unfair labor practice with PERC. The PBA has not been sitting back, we are still making every effort to get this contract completed. When information is ready for dissemination the PBA will make sure it gets put out.
