Congratulations to our Membership in Polk County. The WCFPBA’s last two Political endorsement have been extremely successful.
In the City of Lakeland, we endorsed Mr. Justin Troller who won handily over the incumbent.
Mr. Troller and has already provided an influence over the City’s treatment of Police Officers. Since the election, contract negotiations which had been ongoing for 12 months, began to move forward rapidly and resulted in the bifurcation of the City General pension plan and improved benefits for LPD Officers.
In the City of Bartow, the WCFPBA joined in a Coalition of Unions to endorse Mr. Wayne Lewis for City Commission. The WCFPBA, the General Employees, Firefighters Unions all campaigned for Mr. Lewis who won the Election and is a strong supporter of Collective bargaining and supports the Autonomy of the Bartow Police Department.
These are just the most recent examples of how a strong and active membership can exercise their rights and influence the direction of their agency and City.
