A question for both the LEO as well as the DNT Prez's. First, with the vote wrapping up (I forgot when the votes will be counted) when is the date that the votes will be certified and we will know the results of the elections? Second, how do you think the incidents of the last week or so in the detention department will effect the vote? I'm not only referring to the wheelchair fiasco but the status of the invalid detention chapter decertification petition as well. I would understand if the DTN Prez can't comment on the wheelchair deal due to his status in that investigation.
Blog,
I believe that there is a lot of upset Detention Deputies all the way up the chain of command. Most I believe are upset about the situation, and how it was handled. I think that most in Detention would have voted to keep the union before this incident, I also believe this issue has brought those in Detention closer and has cemented the PBA in Detention. I hope those in Detention that were undecided before, now understand the need for representation.
I hope that those individuals that are trying to collect signatures to get rid of the Union have a long career, keep their nose clean, and that all of their Deputies always do the right thing. I would also like to make sure they understand that they will be welcome to join the union after their efforts have failed again. I do hope that their efforts do not delay the contract negotiation effort any further than it has.
I also want to take time in this post to say to all of those in Detention, keep your heads up, stay strong and vigilant, it is in times like this that we sometimes drop our guard, do too much thinking and end up getting hurt.
